Explanation of Apparatus Numbering

The first two numbers on a piece of apparatus are of the station number, the third number is a freely chosen number by the fire department/company, and the last number is the apparatus identifier.

Last Number:

0 - Officers

1 - Engines / Pumpers

2 - Mini Pumpers

3 - Rescue Extrication

4 - Van / Utility / Salvage

5 - Ladder / Aerial Apparatus

6 - SCUBA (Vehicle or Boat)

7 - Special Apparatus (Foam, Hazardous Materials (HazMat), Auxiliary)

8 - Tankers with 1,250 Gallons+

9 - Brush / Field Units

Example: 2011 - "20" represents Station 20; "1" represents a freely chosen number by the fire company; and "1" identifies the apparatus as an Engines / Pumper.
